TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, a non-profit organization which provides health insurance to children ages 5 through 18, is pleased to announce the completion of the statewide expansion of its program. Through the efforts of federal, state, and local government partnerships the Corporation now offers health insurance in each of Florida's sixty-seven counties.

In 1990, the Florida Legislature established the Healthy Kids program in an effort to combat the existing trend of uninsured children. Volusia County became the first to offer comprehensive health benefits through Florida Healthy Kids. Most recently, Sumter, Citrus and Indian River counties acquired the program completing the Corporation's efforts to offer statewide availability. Currently, over 155,000 children throughout the state of Florida receive health insurance through Healthy Kids.

"The year 2000 is very exciting for us as we celebrate our 10th birthday and fulfill our goal of statewide expansion," says Rose Naff, Executive Director of the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation. "Families all over the state now have access to quality health care for their children through the Healthy Kids program."

Benefits through Healthy Kids include regular doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays, and other services which promote the health of children. Most families on the program pay $15 per month. Healthy Kids' commitment to providing affordable, quality health insurance allows parents peace of mind in ensuring their children's health and happiness.
