What is Florida KidCare?
Florida KidCare is the brand name for four income-based health insurance programs – Medicaid, MediKids, Florida Healthy Kids and the Children’s Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan – that together provide seamless coverage for Florida children from birth until the 19th birthday.
Based on the age of the child, household size, and family income, we automatically match each child with the best fit of the four Florida KidCare programs. Medicaid
The Medicaid program, administered by the Department of Children and Families, is designed for low-income families. It is available to children from birth until the 19th birthday.
MediKids
The MediKids program, administered by the Agency for Health Care Administration, is designed for toddler-aged children. It is available for Florida children from age 1 until the 5th birthday. MediKids offers both a subsidized CHIP and full-pay option.
Florida Healthy Kids
The Florida Healthy Kids program, administered by Florida Healthy Kids Corporation, is designed for school-aged children. It is available to children age 5 until the 19th birthday. Florida Healthy Kids offers both a subsidized CHIP and full-pay option.
Children's Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan
The Children's Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan, administered by the Florida Department of Health, is designed for children with special health care needs. It is available to children from birth until the 19th or 21st birthday. CMS offers both a Medicaid and subsidized CHIP option.
State Government Partners - Working Better Together
Four state partners work together to provide high-quality services to Florida families - the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Florida Department of Health and Florida Healthy Kids Corporation. Each partner plays an important role in running the Florida KidCare program.
Florida KidCare families may receive letters directly from these agencies from time to time.
